We recently produced a short film — a modern reimagining of Romeo & Juliet set against the backdrop of Beverly Hills and Los Angeles. Same story at its core — two people pulled toward each other despite everything working against it — but told through a distinctly modern lens: glass houses instead of balconies, city lights instead of candlelight, the quiet tension of old money and new feelings.
Reimagining a Classic
The challenge with adapting something as familiar as Romeo & Juliet is finding what still feels true today without leaning on the obvious signifiers of the original. We leaned into LA itself as a character — the wealth, the isolation that can exist inside beautiful spaces, the sense that two people can be surrounded by everything and still feel like they're the only ones who understand each other.
On Set
Shooting a short film means every scene has to earn its place — there's no room for filler. We focused on visual storytelling first: composition, light, and blocking doing as much work as the dialogue itself, letting silences and glances carry weight the way they would in the original text, just translated into a modern visual language.
Why We Make Short Films
Beyond client work, short films like this are where we get to experiment — testing new visual ideas, pushing narrative structure, and building something with a clear beginning, middle, and end. It's a different muscle than commercial or event production, and one we think keeps our eye sharp across everything else we shoot.
